• Ethiopia
Within the frame of the building the large Gelada enclosure was sited on the hill above the elephant enclosure. The Rock Hyrax exhibition and the biggest metal net aviary in all Czech zoos, are also part of the Ethiopia complex. The animal exhibitions are supplemented by ethnic artefacts which were made by member of the Konso tribe for Zlin Zoo.

 

 

 

 

 

  

 



• The pavilion of African wildlife
was constructed in 1998. This modern building now houses snub-nosed rhinos, Rothschild giraffes, maneless zebras, blesbucks and ostriches.

• Elephant pavilion
A large exhibit with a modern pavilion in the shape of an African hut is dedicated to African elephants. Ceremonial opening took place in 2003. Inside the pavilion is located a big aquarium with selected species of African cichlids.

These peace-loving giants can be seen in the Primates’ pavilion since 1997.


• Walk through lemurs catta exhibit
An insular exhibit of Madagascar prosimians, catta lemurs came into existence in the vicinity of the elephant pavilion. Visitors can watch animals from close quarters. 


• Lions exhibit
 
A modern natural outlet for lions was opened in 2004.

• Exhibit for Flamingos
We started building a new exhibition for Greater Flamingos in the autumn of 2007 in the lower section, near the elephant’s pavilion. It was finished and ceremonially opened on May 2008. The exhibition contain fresh water lagoon which give the birds far better home than the previous one near the Chateau.

• Vultures and Mongoose exhibit
The exhibit is located in the African and Asian Frontiers, opposite the walk-through Asian aviary. Part of the project are new quarters for Vultures and Mongooses including the walk-through aviary and the mongoose’s run. It was finished and opened on June 2009.
 

• Island of Ruffed Lemurs
As opposed to Ring-tailed Lemurs, you may not enter this island. Lemur Vari is considerably larger than their aforementioned relatives and could cause you some very nasty hurt.
